Grading & Cupping
We understand the need for rigorous quality control at Every Stage.
Quality control is embedded throughout our supply chain, not just a final checkpoint. Every batch passes through multiple verification stages before approval for export or blending
Physical Grading
Green beans are graded by screen size (bean size uniformity) and moisture content (target 10–12%) to ensure consistent roasting performance.
Defect Counting
Each sample is inspected against international defect standards, identifying primary defects (black beans, sour beans, foreign matter) and secondary defects (broken beans, shells, husks) to determine grade classification (e.g. Arabica AA, A, B; Robusta Screen 18, 15).
Density & Moisture Testing
Beans are tested for density and moisture stability to protect against spoilage during storage and transit.
Cupping Protocol
A trained cupping panel evaluates aroma, acidity, body, flavour, and aftertaste using standardised scoring, ensuring every approved batch meets our flavour benchmark before it’s cleared for blending or export.
Batch Traceability
Each lot is logged back to its originating farmer group and region, so quality issues can be traced and addressed at source — strengthening accountability across the supply chain.
Pre-Shipment Verification
A final inspection and re-sampling occurs immediately before container loading, confirming the batch matches the agreed specification and grade.
This multi-stage process means retailers receive coffee that is consistent batch-to-batch, fully traceable, and verified against both physical and sensory quality standards — not just on arrival, but from the farm gate onward.
